Batman celebrates his 75th this year. For someone battling crime over seven decades, he’s held up surprisingly well. Not to mention we’ve gotten over a dozen renditions Gotham City, even including the latest TV series titled “Gotham”. There’ve also been the expansions from the inked page over to cartoons, video games, live action movies, and more memorabilia than you can shake a batarang at.
So how do you celebrate 75 years of outsmarting your rogues gallery? DC has done various endeavors to mark the occasion, from commemorative stamps, to an anniversary Batman logo, and more. There have been various other nods and acknowledgements to the character via comics, games, and movies as well.

Marvel at how far we’ve come
Marvel is celebrating their own 75th anniversary this year. And what a year it is, with an X-Men, Spiderman, and Guardians of the Galaxy movie all having come out in 2014. Not to mention the ongoing success of their TV series S.H.I.E.L.D. Marvel has a lot to celebrate with.
With their entire roster of characters and universes to work with, Marvel has compiled an omnibus of 75 stories throughout Marvel’s history, which is being released to showcase the most pivotal moments in the Marvel multiverse. This is a great way to span all the characters they’ve created over the years, and also showcase the progression of art styles as different artists put their own touch to the superheroes.
Some other endeavors to help put 75 years into perspective are an official and a fan-made site cataloging each year’s publications, hero roster, and fun facts. Both are worth checking out to see the full breadth and depth of story crafting and media expansion this publisher has accomplished.blog comments powered by Disqus
